OK in May of this year I was over at my aunts house and went to go pee. I was just sitting there and looked down sorta at my vagina and noticed my clitoris was gone! I don't really know if it was gone, but I thought it was because I couldn't see it anymore. Anyway, so I got a mirror and looked down there and noticed something I've never noticed before. My Labia minora, on my left side was HUGELY enlarged. It was long and stretchy and red. I told my aunt and she looked at it but didn't see anything. Then we looked online and I told her what I saw. A few months later [Late-July or August] I went to a gynecologist. She looked at it and said there was some white discharge. She didn't say where it came from but it felt around my vagina area. (and btw I have had my period, so maybe it was just that) but anyway, she took it in to see if I had a yeast infection (since it was hot and sweaty) the test results came back negative, and she gave me some cream for labia. It's called: Nystatin and Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream USP. It's supposed to keep down the swelling, redness, etc. Well some times when I walk It rubs against something, and it hurts. It burns and sometimes itches and is red. And also When I got it I started smelling really nasty. I forgot to tell the gyno. She said that it was overgrown, and is overly matured. My other labia is perfectly fine. I haven't been using my cream lately and it's been smeeling, and itching and hurting. What should I do?! Do you maybe think it's some kind of weird cancer? Please help!! Forgot to tell you. Cancer [vagina, cervical, breast, lung] All kinds of cancer runs in our family. My aunt herself, has it kidney and uterine. My grandmother had skin cancer My great aunts daughter had some kind over cancer [I think uterine] and my great grandmother had lung cancer. No offense! But you guys aren't really giving me any help! I have never had sex btw moreVoting Question: Please help! Thrush and yeast infection!?
Okay sorry if this is a little gross but I am seventeen years old and keep getting thrush on my tongue/in my mouth and vaginal yeast infections! The thrush was first noticed by my doctor who gave me some sort of pill to get rid of it. It then came back and luckily I had a doctor's appointment anyway and was able to get more medicine. They gave me a different kind (Nystatin) that I had to swish and swallow four times a day (I was always too busy to take it that many times so I didn't follow the rules completely and I never even finished the third bottle of it because it was taking me SO long to finish and I thought it was gone) But now I have it again! The pharmacist had told my mom the thrush was probably caused by my inhaler (Advair) but I stopped using Advair awhile ago so that can't be the cause of it. Along with this I keep getting vaginal yeast infections. I have not had a doctor diagnose them but I have read a lot about them online and I am 99% positive that I am diagnosing them correctly. My mom has bought me a variety of medications for them (such as Monistat) and the infection will go away for awhile but then will come right back. I am getting really tired of both the thrush and the yeast infections but I really do not want to go to the doctor! I feel like they must be connected because they are both a type of yeast infection. Do you know if there is something that is causing both of them! And is there some sort of vitamin or something that I can take to stop these infections?! moreResolved Question: First Yeast Infection. Still here?
Yeah, so I went throught the perils of my 1st yeast infection around the end of Sept. It got to the point where I got scared and went to my doc who did a swab and VOILA...she saw "budding yeast". I was prescribed Gynazole-1 and Nystatin cream. Within 2 days, my pain subsided and my worries were gone. Cut to today. I still have those pesky little clumps. Whenever I wipe myself, I see them on the tissue or my hand. I know it's gross but it happens. It's not alot of clumps but still enough to know something is up. Also, there's still a slight discomfort after sex. I have to lube up, which is something I never had to do. Afterwards, I feel a very slight discomfort like soreness. It's nothing compared to the pain of the yeast infection but something still isn't right! Has anyone every experienced this? I'm popping Acidophilus pills like candy because I want to be sure all my friendly bacteria comes back. Someone said that maybe my PH levels were still off. I don't know. I even did a Monistat-3 treatment about a week ago to make sure I killed any lingering yeast. Honestly, I think all those chemicals from the treatments probably dried me out. No clue...it still doesn't explain the little clumps that look like dead skin. moreResolved Question: Swollen Vagina HELP!!!?

My little girl has a yeast infection inside her labial folds. I have contacted the doctor's office and they prescribed the usual Nystatin cream- however- as pitiful as this sounds- we can't afford it quite yet because a paycheck does not come into the household until thursday. I was wondering about using Micozonale Nitrate anti-fungal cream for older women until we get the Nystatin. I have read on here that several others have been told its okay to use these OTC creams on their little girls/boys but if you read the back of the tube it says it shouldn't be used on small children! My daughter has gotten diaper rashes all the time, since birth... off and on. I do ALL the things I am supposed to. When she doesnt have an outbreak I use Desitin, or Aveno diaper rash cream. I change her diapers OFTEN!!!! all the time it seems. When she does get a rash, I let her air dry. I give her Aveno Oatmeal baths. and the doctor told me to put Nystatin cream on her (and to keep puttling it on for 5 days after there are no signs of a rash) Also we are giving her a crewable medicine for yeast infections to cure it from the insides (given by the doctor) It seems as though it never goes away now. I have tried different ones, even cloth!!! moreResolved Question: How do I cure this yeast infection?!?!?
I apparently have a very resilient yeast infection in my hind quarters and likely my GI tract. It is resistant to azoles. I have been prescribed Nystatin and azole creams. They would work with limited success or not at all. I was prescribed Fluconazole and it didn't do a thing. More recently, I was prescribed Grivulvin 500mg tablets. For about a week, I was showing dramatic improvement and then the symptoms started getting worst again. I have not interrupted my dosing. Can anyone suggest something that I can take that is OTC or prescribed that I can talk to my doctor about. This is literally a pain in the rear and I do not have the slightest idea how to get rid of it. A little background: I am male, 30, no STD's or conditions affecting my health. I am about 25lbs overweight. Any meaningful advise would be most graciously received. Thanks, Dave Also, if possible, could you tell me a rough idea of how long it took for the treatment to work? Thanks. moreResolved Question: Diaper rash help please!?
My son has been fighting a yeast infection for almost 2 weeks now and I have been putting Nystatin cream (prescription) on him. However, he has now developed a diaper rash as well. I am vigilant about changing his diaper and giving him as much "naked baby" time as possible to air out his private parts. I know he gets his diapers changed very frequently at daycare because they have to mark it on his check sheet. He does have several bowel movements a day and I know that even the poop sitting on him for 20 minutes can do some harm when there is already a rash there. I have been using just water wipes on him and smearing Desitin (zinc oxide) on him over the Nystatin. Does anyone else have any other tips to help me? I feel so bad for my poor baby! Thank you in advance :) moreResolved Question: Can treating a yeast infection cause very light pink spotting during early pregnancy?
I'm 9 weeks pregnant and started having some extremely light pink spotting the day after I started using Nystatin to treat a yeast infection. The Nystatin was prescribed by OBYN. I'm still treating the infection and I continue small pink spots in my underwear when I wake up in the morning. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated! moreResolved Question: Help! Don't know what to do!?
I went to the gynecologist about two weeks ago because I had symptoms of a yeast infection; burning, itching, burned a little when I urinated, etc. When he examined me, he said it looked like a bunch of yeast and prescribed me diflucan with nystatin cream. I called about a couple of days ago because the symptoms came back. His nurse told me that they couldn't find anything. Then I remembered...right before I went to the doc, I had just finished off a 3-day clotrimazole treatment. I remember hearing that it can mess up the results. Could that be it? I mean that the clotrimazole didn't work, but was wondering if it could have had an effect on the results. I forgot to mention I don't have a UTI. They checked my urine and it came back normal and NO I don't have IC. moreResolved Question: Has your baby been given Nystatin for a yeast infection?

My 4th baby was born at 32w 6d and nursed 2x/day in the NICU. He's 40 weeks old now and almost exclusively bottle fed. I pump around the clock and have 2 freezers full of milk, so supply is not a problem. I desperately want to get rid of the bottles and nurse exclusively, but it's so painful, it doesn't seem like we'll ever get there. His latch has gotten more and more painful. I was treated for a yeast infection of the nipple with diflucan & nystatin, and also used gentian violet 1% and the pain is better - at least I can tolerate wearing a bra and don't want to jump if anything brushes against my nipple anymore, but it's still quite sensitive. I'm using cortisone now. The spot right at the base of the nipple is very sore and seems to be sticky and wet because the nipple folds over onto it. I try to let them air dry after pumping or nursing, but nothing seems to help. Do I need a breast shield? Also, my baby does not open his mouth wide enough to get a good latch, and he is such a stinker about keeping his tongue on the roof of his mouth (that is a problem with bottle feeding, too. Once he figures it out, he drains a 3 oz. bottle). I usually try nursing a few times a day, and then finish with a bottle. He'll nurse maybe 5 minutes, sleeping after the first 2, but then sucks down a bottle. I'm getting rid of all my nipples but the slow flow so he at least has to work a little for it. I try to relax when he's on the painful side, and sometimes if he's really going, it almost stops hurting. The other side doesn't hurt at all, but he has trouble finding the nipple. I used a nipple shield for a few weeks at first, but haven't in at least a month. Do I need to try it again? Is there something wrong with my nipple? I never had any problems nursing my other 3 babies, so this is especially frustrating. Will my baby figure it out now that he's reached 40 weeks gestational age? What can I try to fix my nipple? How do I make him open his mouth more? moreResolved Question: My 8 month old daughter has a horrible rash onher bottom...much needed help plz?
Ok, so we know its not just a diaper rash even doctor concluded that. he said he thought it was a yeast infection ( which she had at 6months, he gave her Nystatin Cream it took 2 weeks to go away) But this time, it is more terrible than before. Its been a week since she went to the doctor. we are suppose to apply 2 times daily, we have, we took her because it was actually bleeding. So we used it first 2 days it got better but then it got even more terrible. Called doctor he said to wait it out till medication is gone. I wanted advise on what kind of rash it could be, because it is still bleeding every time I change her diaper, she crys also. has anyone else been through this? She seems to be pooping like 6-7 times per day but they said it wasn't because of that, that it wasn't a diaper rash. I have 3 other kids and never had this happen before. I have an issue with my scrotum, the left side. It is reddened, irritated, burns, feels pinched, and itches at times. I have had this problem for about 6 months at varying degrees of discomfort. I have been to my doctor for help and he advised at first it was yeast. So he prescribed Nystatin and Triamcinolone Acetonide. At first it burned like hell so doctor suggested Lotrimin. So I tried lotrimin for a month, and it got worse. I tried Monistat, it didn't help but only temporary relief. I then tried lamisil, which seemed promising but eventually the irritation got worse and burned more. So I went back to the Nystatin and am currently on my 3rd week of use. The Nystatin works best out of all of them and I only get discomfort when its time for another application. I've been to my doctor and now he thinks its just irritation. He won't give me a consult to go see a dermatologist. What gives. I also am a Type II diabetic with controlled BG. I also am experiencing issues with neuropathy in my feet, but doctor and pharmacist don't believe it is related to my scrotum issues. The two do at times seem to team up on me and cause pain at the same time. moreResolved Question: Could I have a serious liver problem?
6 weeks ago, I took a sulpha antibiotic called Bactrim and had an allergic reaction that consisted of a fever, heart palpitations, and a rash. On top of the Bactrim I was told to take tylenol for the fever for 3 days. So, I took the Bactrim for a total of 5 and the tylenol for three- the maximum dose for each day. Then the Bactrim caused oral thrush and a yeast infection, so I was told to take Nystatin and one diflucan pill. And I also had to be put on a low dose of steroids to help the allergic reaction. Then the docs put me on Lexapro and Ativan because I was so worked up over the allergic reaction. So now, they did a liver panel and My ALT is 45 and my AST is 88 and I am freaked. The doc said they would probably go back down but now I have had yellow stools for like 3 weeks and don't know what is causing it. I have not taken anymore medication at all since I found out about my liver. I am also taking Milk thistle which is supposed to help the liver. Has anyone had this problem? Will it go back down to normal or should I worry? Please help! moreVoting Question: Yeast infection on my 9 month old son?

What do doctors believe about candida albicans, what is their theory?, i know they accept oral/vaginal thrush, and yeast infections on the skin. Do doctors accept that candida overgrowth is caused by antibiotics, the pill, or stress? When i went to see my doctor she said it was nonsense, and that i should not believe what is written on websites about candida. She said only if i have HIV or cancer {thus a weak immune system} she would prescribe the Nystatin Why do doctors deny candida overgrowth, candida albicans has been shown to produce alcohol and 70 other toxins in one Japanese study. Is is not plausable then that these toxins enter the bloodstream and cause the patient mental and physical problems? What possible reason could there be for doctors to ignore this? after all the pharmaceutical cartel and medical establishment can make alot of money from increased antifungal medication sales. I cannot arrive at a reason why this is so, nor any website on candida mentions this issue I wa prescribed some amphotericin B Lozenges for the oral thrush. But I believe the problem is much deeper than the mouth, and the candida overgrowth must be alot worse in the gut/intestines. moreResolved Question: Is Nystatin Ointment okay to use during pregnancy to treat a yeast infection?

Please do not recommend colon cleanses or herbal remedies, they don't work for me, I have tried them ALL. I have tried all the special diets too.I have had this problem for 17 years and it is in the colon / upper intestine.I have had 2 colonoscopies in the last 3 years. They saw nothing weird, but you cannot detect candida that way, or so I have heard. I do not have vaginal yeast infections ironically, probably because my urine is super acidic, but I see symptoms all throughout my body in the last year that the yeast has infiltrated my system. I have read The Yeast Syndrome by Towbridge and done extensive research, but I think the best answers come from others who have used medicines themselves.I have used the highest level probiotics that helped, but did not resolve it. I know of Nystatin and Fluconazole, but have yet to try. Need a recommend.Oh and my doctor(s) do not believe in this particular strain of candida and do not want to prescribe anything due to the cost of it. Nice huh? Thanks for the answers so far, but I am NOT guessing anything. I was diagnosed 8 years ago as having this and lost my health insurance right after that, so I had no continuing treatment. My current doctors don't want to deal with it due to cost and their beliefs and changing doctor's is not easy as I am not on insurance even now. Also taking any type of active probiotic is a waste of time until the Candida is killed off. My original doctor way back told me that and all the medical websites confirm it. You are wasting your money buying or taking anything to balance the intestines until the die off happens from the drug treatments. The Candida will just kill off the healthy bacteria as it is so much stronger. It appears that Diflucan is the one to use at this time. And the book The Yeast Syndrome was written by an expert in the field. I have had this for 17 years and have researched it extensively, I wanted a drug answer as specified in the original question, nothing else. moreResolved Question: How can I get rid of thrush while breastfeeding??
Have had thrush/yeast since baby's was 1 week old. We've both been treated with every remedy (gentian violet, nystatin, newmans, diflucan - twice) and I am at a loss as to how to get rid of it. Oh and I've been taking acidopholus and grapefruit seed for 8 WEEKS and will continue, but is it really helping? I've also cut out virtually all sugar and wash everything thoroughly so as not to spread the yeast. The pain is still terrible and my nipples burn constantly. I'm so tempted to give up breastfeeding. This is why I quit nursing my first child. It's so discouraging. My son is 2 months old. If breastfeeding and you and your baby have thrush, would you put a drop of baby's oral nystatin on your nipples or the cream nystatin (for his yeast diaper rash)? Okay.. I've been on this stupid antibiotic for 22 days and I have 8 days left. I was originally prescribed it for a prostate infection. That is why I have it for 30 days. Well about a week ago my taste went to crap and the past 3 or 4 days I can't taste crap. I know it is because the antibiotics killed something that keeps the yeast in check. Well my doc called in Nystatin Oral Suspension stuff. So my question is. What are some foods that can help get this back into check faster. I know yogurt is one food but what are some other foods.. Also are you suppose to swallow this stuff or spit it out. I called the pharmacist and she said the Dr. didn't make any notes about it and told me I could do whatever. She said one side affect to swallowing is that you can get an upset stomach. Thanks! moreResolved Question: Did you apply nystatin to your sore nipples after each feeding?
The pediatrician prescribed nystatin cream for thrush and said to apply it to baby's bum 4 times a day for his yeast rash. The tube says twice a day. He said it can be applied to my sore nipples as well. I forgot to ask him how often. The lactation consultant said after each feeding. Some websites agree. But, if I'm putting it on baby's bum 4x a day, why wouldn't I apply it to my nipples only 4x a day as well? Or should I do it after each feeding? The pediatrician also prescribed oral nystatin which is being used 2 ml 4 x a day. 3.5 week old son. moreResolved Question: cure for white coating on tongue (oral Thrush)?
Oral Thrush may be associated with a sore/burning throat, difficulty swallowing and even nodules on the uvula which are all symptoms I experienced. Many forums indicate Thrush is caused by a weakened Immune System and found mostly in cancer, HIV or diabetic patients but the wording on most sites is exactly the same and appears to be a generic definition posted years before the web was used for discussion. I think now a day’s people are finding out that Thrush is common in healthy adults suffering from stress, but for precautionary reasons I had my doctor take some blood tests which all came back negative. Tea Tree Oil is the cure. I got Jason brand Tea Tree Oil Healthy Mouth toothpaste and mouthwash and my symptoms started clearing up immediately. I also took Twin Lab Yeast Fighers supplements and got all three products from vitacost.com for $29 which included overnight shipping. Nystatin did not work so save your self the $87! We had it 2 weeks ago and I gave her Nystatin drops, put Nystatin creme on myself, I took a diflucan (used to treat yeast infections both ductile & vaginal) and I sterlized EVERYTHING daily! I even washed everything with hot water, bleach, and used vinegar in the rinse cycle, and I cleaned my nipples with a vinegar solution as well. I thought it was gone, but now my nipples are sore again and I'm sure it's back. I don't know what I'm doing wrong to bring this about. Does anyone know of anything else I can do as a preventative/treatment? The only other thing I can think that I did wrong was I started sleeping without a shirt/bra/tank again and I snuggled up with my body pillow, so this morning that thing went IN the trash!!! I am also going to start sleeping with a shirt on again, I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Any other ideas/tips/suggestions?? HELP!!! :( Also - I gave her the entire bottle of drops, which lasted a week. I used the creme on myself for another few days after that and I used the vinegar on myself for another few days after that. I also never stopped serilizing everything daily. I'm at a loss... Yeah, I guess maybe I asked too early! I get to work so early and have all of these things on my mind :) Sorry, I should be more specific! I wash her bottles/pacifiers with hot soapy water and then steam them. I wash anything that comes in contact with her mouth or my breasts (bibs, bras, etc.) in hot water w/ bleach and put vinegar in the rinse cycle. I guess maybe we never truly got rid of it, I dunno, kinda wierd that we would get it again just 2 weeks later, you know? moreResolved Question: Rx cream gave baby a reaction...like a burn...Advice?
My baby had a recurrance of her yeast infection. It wasn't too bad on her bottom, but bad in her mouth. So the doctor gave us a refill on her medicines, but I got a different brand of nystatin cream for her bottom. I used it yesterday, but I also used some wipes I'd never used before. She had a terrible reaction, but I don't know to which. But whatever hurt her skin, I need help on what to do now. In her diaper area, everywhere you'd usually wipe, she's so red, and the skin is weeping. I called the insurance nurse line, and they were really nice, but I'm still left not knowing what to do. I very gently rinse her with cool water, and I haven't put any creams on it. I'm going to leave her without a diaper as much as possible and keep her as clean as possible. It's still weeping a little, like a burn. No real blisters, though, more like cracked skin. Red, moist, cracked. She's being so sweet. Any ideas? She's better than last night. moreResolved Question: Medical help for baby's skin? Reaction to prescription cream...?

My little 2 month old has little red bumps all over her "higher up" diaper area..not her bum. (they almost look like little red zits) The doc thought it might be yeast so I have been putting nystatin on it and it seems to be getting worse. But then when I put Aveeno diaper rash cream on it, it seems to get better... the nystatin looks like it takes her skin off. It's so weird. I think it's really hurting her too... (The nystatin has also turned yellow instead of clear - does that mean it has went bad?) Yes it's only in that area, not even in her "bum" area just up higher... I will keep up with the Aveeno. moreResolved Question: What is some homeopathic remedies for yeast all over the body?
I have thrush as an adult now for 4 days, yeast infection, secondary infection of yeast on my scalp, and face. I have been given 150mg of Diflucan and Nystatin for my throat. I get a terrible yeast outbreak one week before my period. This is the worst outbreak yet. I have researched some homeopathic remedies like Caprylic acid, Biotin, probiotics, yogurt, etc. I have also read to limit sugar, simple carbs., even gluten. Do these remedies really work? I have a sensitive system I cannot take birth control. I'm also prone to migraines. I cannot take antibiotics forever. I have been on them for two days and the yeast is still here and painful. I am taking probiotics three times a day, vitamins, limiting sugar, and trying to rest alot. I'm a full time mom. I need this under control quickly. What else is there? I am using a anti-fungal wash given to me by dermatologist for all my skin areas everyday. I have cut down sugar to hardly any, reduced yeast, some gluten, etc. Tea trea oil doesn't work at all for me. I think the internal is the key to this problem. I am taking vitamins and probiotics. moreResolved Question: Oral thrush?

Well now its back full force and I have been using desitin, changing her every 2 hours and also leaving her nude for a while. I was wondering if anyone knew of any thing better, store bought or homemade that I can use to help my little princess. Helppppppp pleaseeeee........ Have an allergy to diflucan, face breaks out in a rash and throat swells. I'm on steroids for adrenal insufficiency and inhaled steroids for asthma. On top of the basically normal monthly yeast infection (no rude comments) I've had oral thrush for months and months. Nystatin helped but didn't get rid of it Amo B mouth washes (custom made) didn't help... Finally doctors argued with me it wasn't a fungal infection. Well i begged a doctor to culture it after months of it and well it is a fungus.. Now trying mycelex (sorry can't spell) i've used them before, and had no reaction, but up till december i had no reaction to diflucan. I know there is a chance of an allergy but don't know what else to do. Yogurt, probiotics make my stomach hurt like no tomorrow, garlic doesn't help. regular mouth washes, peroxide diluted mouth washes do nothing, cleaning tounge leaves it too painful to even talk or eat. I'm soooooooooooo in dire need of help doctors are even clueles Thanks to any helpful advice... anyone out there allergic to diflucan, severe actual allergies not just bad reactions.... I've been dealing with oral candidiasis for 6 months now. I've been on meds which initally helped but then symptoms reappeared. Now I'm on Nystatin again and it doesn't seem to be helping at all. I'm on an anti-candida diet (no yeast, no sugar, no wheat) but have seen very little improvement. I have a horrible taste in my mouth, dry mouth, white casseous looking adherences on the back of my tounge and when I open my mouth my whole tounge is white and if I keep it open, you can se the yeast dies and under you can see my normal tounge. I have also tried accupuncture, coconut oil, three-lac, grapefruit seed vitamins. I'm at my wits end and all I want to do is be normal again. I've been worked up for immune system disorders as well as celiac and they are all neg. I am young (34), and otherwise pretty healthy. Please if someone has had this problem or has a suggestion, please e-mail me.
